We had our Christmas party yesterday - which was a lot of fun and today we are paying the price - and we decided to warm things up in the afternoon by selecting our seven favourite 7" releases from across our Brazil 45, Africa 45 and Latin 45 series'.
The results are as follows:
1. Georgette - Kirie b/w Claudia - Com Mais de 30 - 7"
Claudia is our find of the series. A serious talent. Accompanied by Kirie which we have wanted to release for a very long time. As featured in Floating Points recent Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.
2. K. Frimpong & His Cubano Fiestas - Kyenkyen Bi Adi M'awu / Ebo Taylor - Heaven - 7"
Killer double header on our Africa 45's series. Essential.
3. Amazones de Guinee - Samba / Moussa Doumbia - Samba - 7"
The first release in the Africa 45' series.
4. Fruko y sus Tesos - El Preso b/w Bang Bang (El Tiroteo) - 7"
Latin 45, number 9, by the godfather of Colombian salsa.
5. Ely Camargo - Taieiras b/w Trio Esperenca - Nao Aguento Voce - 7"
An amazing selection from the Brazilian Beats Brooklyn gents.
6. Orchestra Baobab - Kelen Ati Leen / Souleymane - 7"
Senegalese afro-funk dons incredible Kelen Ati Leen. We have hammered this in DJ sets in 2015.
7. Marcio Lott - Tema de Baby / Silvio Cesar - A Festa - 7"
A somewhat slept on masterpiece by Marcio Lott complimented by an all-time Bongo favourite.
Needless to say, we have plenty more lined up for 2016.
