This weeks Staff Pick comes from Graham Luckhurst. Graham's chosen a big Brazilian record that's got us all very excited at Bongo HQ, reissued by Patuá Discos records, available here.
This one has been on my list for a good few years now, so its great to see it finally surface, courtesy of Patuá Discos, so we don't have to spend £400 on it.
'Samba De Amigo’ is one of my all-time favourite Brazilian cuts – it really bangs. Reminds me of the end section of Nara Leao’s version of ‘Carcara’ with the key switch ups and all round huge sonics.
It’s a lovely album from start to finish, brilliantly recorded too, with tons of nuances and details in the background. Soundtrack-esque in places. Perfect for sunny morning listening.
