There is an exciting resurgence of conscious, organic music in Jamaica; industry experts and observers agree that Protoje – born Oje Ken Ollivierre – is playing a vital role in what has become known as the "Reggae Revival".
Protoje has released three studio albums: his debut THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH (2010), THE 8 YEAR AFFAIR (2013) which featured the hits 'Rasta Love' featuring Ky-Mani Marley, and 'Kingston Be Wise' which featured in the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto, and ANCIENT FUTURE (2015) which included the international hit 'Who Knows' featuring Chronixx.
His fourth album A MATTER OF TIME was released in June 2018. The ten track album, produced by Winta James, marks the second consecutive collaboration between the two, following 'Ancient Future'. The duo have refined their infusion of hip-hop sensibilities and traditional Jamaican sounds – venturing into new territory and reaching back to the roots.
Named on BBC 1Xtra’s Hot for 2015 Artist list, he has since appeared on 'Later With Jools Holland’, recorded two sessions at BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale, and has featured regularly on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
Protoje has sold out headline UK, US and European tours. He is a firm favourite at festivals throughout the world; Glastonbury, Coachella, Reading, Leeds, Boomtown, Summer Jam, Musa, Esperanzah, Afro-Punk and Canada’s Pemberton Music Festival amongst many others.
